Rules and regulations are provided.
GFBC Staff reserves the right to ask anyone to leave the property if the mentioned rules are broken in any way.
First and foremost for this event is Evangelism to share our Christian faith and invite others to follow Jesus. Second is SAFETY. We will be using the NRA guidelines and safety rules which are:
- ALWAYS KEEP THE BARREL OF YOUR GUN POINTED IN A SAFE DIRECTION. Safe direction is at the target or directly up when handling the firearm. All firearms must be placed on the designated table, unloaded, barrel pointed down range with an open breach when not on firing line. Firearms will be loaded only when on the firing line. All firearms will be unloaded before leaving the firing line. GFBC assistants will be monitoring participants to ensure all rules of safety are followed.
- KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER AND OUT OF THE TRIGGER GUARD UNTIL READY TO SHOOT. There is no reason to have your finger on the trigger if you’re not shooting. Keep it straight until your shot. No exceptions!
- KEEP FIREARM UNLOADED UNTIL IN POSITION AND READY TO SHOOT. GFBC will issue participants a single shotgun round per shooter, per target.
For the Turkey Shoot, we will have the following procedure and rules of competition:
- Participants must sign a waiver and agree that, to the fullest extent permitted by the law, GFBC, its organizers, officers, members, volunteers, and representatives will not be held responsible or liable for any accidents, injuries, damages, losses, or damage to firearms or other personal property arising from or related to their participation in the event.
- .410-, 20-, and 12- gauge shotguns are allowed. 36” max barrel length. No more than factory full choke.
- All guns will be checked by GFBC event staff. Guns may be checked more than once.
- You are responsible for your own gun. GFBC will not be held responsible for damaged firearms.
- No bipods, tripods, scopes, lasers, red dots or modified barrels of any kind. Iron sights only.
- Anyone caught cheating will forfeit the round, will not receive prizes, and be disqualified from further shoots.
- All decisions made by the GFBC staff are final.
- There are no refunds for any reason.
- For $5.00, each shooter will be issued a single target with a single shotgun round. No outside ammo allowed. You must print your name on the back of the target when it is given to you.
- Shooters will be called to the line in groups of 10. When instructed, participants will shoot two at the time, collect their target and present it to the GFBC member(s) for judging. No lane cross shooting will be allowed.
- When it is your turn to shoot, FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS OF THE GFBC RANGEMASTER. Do not handle firearms until instructed to do so.
- It is strongly encouraged to wear the proper personal protective equipment i.e. safety glasses and hearing protection (not provided). GFBC will not be held responsible for any accidents or injury (acute or chronic) because of the blatant disregard for PPE.
- After all (10) participants have shot and presented their target to the judge(s), a single winner will be determined for that round. The judge(s) will have ultimate discretion when scoring targets. There are no appeals. Their word is final. If two shooters are tied, there will be a shoot-off until a winner is determined.
Possession of alcoholic beverages and illegal drugs are prohibited on all GFBC property and associated parking lots.
Anyone unruly or suspected of being under the influence of alcohol or drugs will be immediately expelled from GFBC property.
All firearms and ammunition may be subject to inspection at any time. No “quick-draws”, “shooting from the hip”, or freelance shooting behavior will be tolerated. A person may shoot from the standing (offhand) position or sitting position.
Anyone discharging a firearm in an unsafe direction or manner will be expelled from the property.
Handling a firearm in an unsafe manner: 1st offense – person will be cautioned. 2nd offense – person will be expelled from the property.
No spectators allowed on the shooting line.
Shooters requiring assistance of any kind should be communicated to the GFBC staff regarding accommodation.
Child shooters 12 and under must be accompanied by their guardian. A “child round” may be conducted dependent on the number of participants.
